And both of these fabulous cooks have been short listed for the Taste Canada Cookbook Awards!

Tara O'Brady of Seven Spoons (name of the blog AND her popular cookbook) talks about growing up in southern Ontario with Indian flavours at home, Canadian foods around her and the mix of other cultural spices and ingredients that influenced her cooking today. With dishes that are easy to make and simple tips to update old favourites, Tara has ideas for making meals delicious.

Plus, THE chocolate chip cookie recipe that will blow all others out of the water - a BuzzFeed blind taste test of top recipes even says so.

Professional Home Economist Mairlyn Smith chats about the challenges and the perks of cooking with Canadian-grown ingredients, which she highlights in her cookbook, Homegrown. With healthy tips on shopping, storing and cooking, this cookbook will get you to eat better and support local growers.

Joel MacCharles and Dana Harrison are the couple behind WellPreserved.ca - a great blog of recipes for preserving. Their new book, Batch, includes tips, techniques and recipes for preserving. Joel shares the 7 types of preserving (and chances are you're doing more than one without knowing it) and a few simple 10-minute recipes you could be doing at home without any extra equipment.
Some of them involve booze.

Peter Neal of Neal Brothers Foods brings wine to the studio to talk about the food business he started with his brother when they were in university and how it's grown to include amazing chips and condiments. Plus, their first cookbook, Goodness, hits shelves this month - they asked 37 chefs and good food advocates across the country to contribute recipes. 50% of proceeds from the book will go to the Community Food Centres of Canada to continue the great work they do.

Pay is back from Scottsdale, Arizona and is plumper than when she left. There's more than spas and golf...there's great food. And if there's great food, Pay will find it.

Matt Basile from Fidel Gastro food truck and Lisa Marie restaurant pops into studio to talk about his new cookbook, "Street Food Diaries" and what lead him from a desk job as a copywriter to creating a food brand that has resulted in a food truck, restaurant, TV show, catering company and now a book in only three years.

Pay asks, "what's the worst thing you've ever received while trick-or-treating?" See if you agree with the answers. By the way, someone said, "potato".

Nutritionist Theresa Albert was once an evil woman who gave out whole wheat crackers at Halloween but is now trying to redeem herself. Theresa has tips on making Halloween less junky for parents and kids.

And chef Matthew DeMille (Drake Devonshire) talks about the Drake Hotel's new spot in Prince Edward County. A perfect spot for a getaway by car.

He knows a thing or two about craft beer and wrote a cookbook filled with craft beer recipes. David Ort joins Pay in studio to chat about the great beer being made in Canada.
Caroline Mulroney Lapham talks about the Shoebox Project along with Michelle Taylor from the Fred Victor shelter. Shoeboxes filled with small gifts are distributed to women in shelters across the city. It's easy and doesn't cost a lot - that's why you should do it.
